California High School Entrepreneurship Club
What We Do
Located in San Ramon, CA, in the San Francisco Bay Area, our club consists of approximately 20 members. Our mission is to act as a gateway and introduce entrepreneurship to students by bringing in speakers and touring different companies.
We feature speakers who have experience creating and working in startups. Our meetings consist of brainstorming ideas for what makes a good startup and why. We continue to schedule trips to Bay Area businesses to learn firsthand about their successes including Pixar, Glassdoor, Sungevity, and Lyft.

The world's largest startup event. With a mission to support founders and inspire innovation, we learned from VC's and founders on how to start a company and listened to startups pitch live onstage to a panel of judges.
In the demopit, Cafe X was voted the Launch Festival's best overall startup. Cafe X is a robot that makes premium coffee in 10 seconds.
Companies We've Visited
At Pixar we learned about what goes into making a film including conception, story development, animation, production, and finance. Similarly, how Pixar and Disney work together to maximize their profits from each film by creating theme park exhibits and having merchandise ready the day the film is released. Something that everyone will benefit from is Pixar's new goal to release two movies every three years.
At Glassdoor, we learned about what they have done to gain more exposure and set themselves apart in the early days. This has led to Glassdoor's 50% growth in the last 6 months. We became familiar with the day to day activities of people in various departments including marketing and business development.
At Sungevity, we learned about the struggles of starting a solar company and getting early adoption. We learned the value of staying focused, having a good team, and that the ball is always in your court! Additionally, we learned about the importance of having a long-term vision and great execution. This has ultimately led Sungevity to be a major player in the solar industry.
At Lyft we learned about their strategy early on and how they were able to onboard their first customers and drivers while still introducing people to ride sharing. We learned how community driven Lyft is, and their dedication to maintain a great expereince through driver and rider incentives. Likewise, how they've been able to leverage big brands like Starbucks and GM to promote Lyft and emerge as one of the premier ride sharing services.

Inspired by my dad, a true entrepreneur, I started this club to share my passion of entrepreneurship with my classmates. Through speakers and tours, I hope our members get an insight into entrepreneurship that they couldn't find elsewhere. Some of my go-to places to learn more about entrepreneurship include Bloomberg West, TechCrunch, and my favorite, TWiST with Jason Calacanis.

Entrepreneurship is the epicenter of innovation. It is what keeps mankind going. I find it interesting to learn about how successful businesses started so I can take a similar path and start a company in the future.

Entering high school I became interested in entrepreneurship. As a future computer science major, I aspire to start my own company eventually. Being given the opportunity to listen to entrepreneurs and tour companies is something I find invaluable.

I joined the club because entrepreneurship offers freedom. If I start my own company, I can oversee and control everything that happens. I like the fact that being an entrepreneur doesn't keep you tied down to one specific job.
